- 1 package (17.3 oz/490 g) puff pastry, thawed, 2 sheets
- 8 oz (225 g) guava paste
- 4 oz (115 g) cold cream cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey or simple syrup, optional
Step-by-step instructions
- Heat the oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Cut each puff pastry sheet into 9 equal rectangles. Cut the guava paste and cream cheese into 9 portions each.
- Place guava and cream cheese in the center of 9 rectangles, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- Whisk the egg with the water. Brush the borders, top with the remaining rectangles and seal with a fork.
- Cut two small vents on top, brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until puffed and golden. Brush lightly with honey if desired and cool for 10 minutes.
