In Uruguay and Argentina, a licuado is the go-to afternoon drink on hot days: fresh fruit blended with ice-cold milk until smooth and frothy. This peach version is simple, creamy and naturally sweet, and it takes just 5 minutes. It works with fresh summer peaches or canned peaches all year long.

Ingredients
- 3 ripe peaches, peeled and pitted (or 2 cups canned peaches, drained)
- 2 cups (480 ml) cold whole milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar (skip if using canned peaches in syrup)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup ice cubes
Instructions
- Cut the peaches into chunks and put them in the blender.
- Add the cold milk, sugar and vanilla.
- Blend on high for 30 to 45 seconds, until completely smooth.
- Add the ice and blend 15 seconds more, until frothy.
- Pour into tall glasses and serve right away.
Tips for the best results
Serve it as soon as it is blended: a licuado loses its froth and can separate if it sits. For an even thicker drink, freeze the peach chunks ahead of time and use less ice.
